The Updated 8th Edition of DDC-8/6
The goals of the 8th edition of the Defensive Driving Course remain the same as
ever: to teach drivers safe techniques—and ultimately save lives—by emphasizing
decision-making, control, and consequences. The new 8th edition sees much of the
program's content updated, improved, and presented with eye-catching grpahic design.

If you want to become a DDC-8/6 instructor, you'll find that our curriculum is easy—and

time. Our Teaching Kit includes a 12-month video lease of new and updated titles
on your choice of VHS or DVD: Sense-abilities, We Give You the Facts: You Decide,
Drive to Survive, Auto Focus: Conditions of Driving, and Choices That Can Change
a Life; choice of flip chart or PowerPoint™ CD-ROM; traffic shapes and signs, magnetic
intersection kit.

What's New in 8th Edition?
- New topics include aggressive driving; distracted driving; effects of prescription,
over-the-counter and club drugs on driving; drowsy drivers; and construction work
zones.
- The Course Guide features updated statistics; revised scenarios; and new or expanded
topics including the physical forces of a collision, driver distractions, work zones,
and aggressive driving. New features include "In Our State...", to be completed
with your local driving statutes; and "Driving Tips."
- The Instructor Manual includes the Administrative Guide, reference materials, and
color overhead transparency paper masters of the art used in the flip chart. We've
enhanced the front matter and guidelines, and updated the two-column format for
ease of use.
- Of the five session videos, we've replaced two videos and updated two others.
- Leases will be available as video or DVD.
- The flip chart presentation will also be available as a PowerPoint™ CD with animated
driving scenarios.
Instructor Certification Package
Issued to candidate-instructors at the instructor course, the certification package
includes:

- 1-year subscriptions to Traffic Safety and Driver Trainer
Annual Instructor Recertification
Instructors must renew their credentials annually to maintain instructor status.
Upon Renewal, they will receive an updated certification card and a year's subscription
to Traffic Safety and Driver Trainer.
