May is Asthma Awareness Month
and
World Asthma Day is May 2, 2006
To increase public
understanding of asthma, the National Safety Council joins EPA and other organizations
around the world during May for Asthma Awareness Month and on World Asthma Day
to raise awareness of the number of people living with asthma, the health effects
of asthma and ways to manage asthma. EPA has developed a wide variety of materials
designed to attract interest and increase understanding of asthma. It provides
event planning ideas, sample proclamations and letters to the editor and educational
materials for distribution in communities throughout the U.S. Download an Asthma Awareness Month Event Planning Kit (PDF, 15 pgs) for
help with ideas and outreach strategies to help people in your community understand
asthma and what they can do to help people living with asthma.
