This is an Environminute Disaster Advisory from the National Safety Council and the Governors Office of Emergency Services.
It's normal to feel sad, angry or depressed over losses you may have suffered during a flood. Experts say it's important to have time to grieve over those lost parts of your life. And, you should remember that you really are a victim in this case and you should not blame yourself for this misfortune. Some people suffer more than a temporary feeling of being down in the dumps. Serious depression can occur, resulting in sleeping difficulties -- a lack of appetite or energy or an inability to experience joy. If you or someone you know has these symptoms, call your doctor or local health department for help. Remember, most of the losses caused by the flood are only temporary and many people and agencies are there to help you.
This Environminute Disaster Advisory was brought to you by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation.
