Andrews:
I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office
of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory
from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10
Announcer:
It's wildfire season in California, so it's important to know how to protect your home. Keep an open area around every structure on your property by clearing away dead leaves and branches. Your roof is especially vulnerable to fire, so trim any dead limbs that hang over the roof. Cut back living branches if they're near your chimney. And, cover the chimney top with an approved screen to catch sparks. Clean needles and leaves out of eaves and rain gutters. As an extra precaution, make sure your address is easy to see, so that firefighters can find your home quickly. For more information, contact your local fire department. :34
