Andrews:
I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office
of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory
from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10
Announcer:
Do you know how to prevent forest fires? Take Smokey
Bear's quick test and see how well you score. You're leaving a
campfire behind — should you blow it out, let it burn out, or douse it
with water? If you threw on the water, you're cool. To make sure the
fire's out, should you stir the ashes with a shovel or stomp on them?
Picked the shovel? Hey, you really dig this stuff! If the fire's
really OUT, will you keep trees from burning, or keep animals from
dying? You're smokin' now — you prevent both. Can Smokey Bear prevent
forest fires? No? Well, if Smokey can't, who can? Yeah, right!
Only YOU can prevent forest fires! :34
Announcer:
This EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory was brought to you
by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation. :05
