Andrews:
I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office
of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory
from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10
Announcer:
Is your house in a wildfire zone? Advance preparation
goes a long way to keep your family safe in a fire. Install smoke
detectors now if you don't have them already. Also, hold a family
"fire safety" meeting. Sketch a floor plan of your house, and mark
doors, windows, and stairs. Know two easy exits from every room.
Now, check windows and doors. They should open easily — and make sure
windows are large enough to climb through. At your fire safety
meeting, agree on a safe place to meet outside the house. Make sure
everyone has a flashlight and whistle to keep by his or her bed. Finally,
hold family fire drills regularly. :34

This EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory was brought to you
by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation. :05
