Quake Tips for Seniors

(THEME :02 AND UNDER)

Andrews:

Hi, I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10'

Announcer:

For senior citizens, here are some special tips for staying safe in a quake. When an earthquake hits, you'll want to take cover fast — under a sturdy desk or table. Chose a place now, and make sure you can get under it easily. Life-support equipment or oxygen tanks should be anchored securely. Plug in some security lights — these battery-powered devices light up automatically if the power fails. Write down phone numbers for family members and doctors ... and list your medications, too. Keep this list with you, along with a whistle, in case you need to call for help. Finally, ask two people you trust to check on you after the quake. :34

Announcer:

This EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory was brought to you by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation. :10
