Prepare Your Family for a Quake

(THEME :02 AND UNDER)

Andrews:

Hi, I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10

Announcer:

Does your family have an "Earthquake Plan"? Take simple steps now to be safer after the quake. Make a family "emergency kit": three day's worth of food, water, and clothing, plus spare keys and eyeglasses. Make sure everyone knows where the kit is kept. Locate your shut-off valves for water, gas, and electricity. Choose a family meeting place, in case you become separated during the quake. Family members who do not speak English should carry a card with name, address, and any special needs, such as medication or allergies. A family "Earthquake Drill" is a good idea, too. Remember the rule: "Duck, Cover, and Hold." :34

Announcer:

This EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory was brought to you by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation. :10
