Tips for the Physically Challenged (Before the Quake)

(THEME :02 AND UNDER)

Andrews:

Hi, I'm Richard Andrews, director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services. This is an EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory from our agency and the National Safety Council. :10

Announcer:

If you're physically challenged, you need to take some extra precautions before an earthquake strikes. Plan how to protect yourself in your home or workplace. If ducking under a table or desk is difficult, stay under a doorway that does not have a door. Always keep a list of your medications with you. Include phone numbers for doctors and family members. Keep walking aids next to you, and have extras elsewhere in your home. It's also a good idea to put a security light in each room. They'll switch on automatically if you lose power. Keep a whistle nearby to signal for help, and arrange for someone to check on you after the quake is over. :35

Announcer:

This EnvironMinute Disaster Advisory was brought to you by the Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation. :10
