Hotlines
The National Safety Council's Environmental Health Center (EHC) provides the
general public and professionals with information about indoor air quality. Two
toll-free hotlines are available for obtaining information.
This program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Radon Hotline
1-800-SOS-RADON

- Automated, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Provides basic information packet on radon. Packet includes the EPA brochure
Reducing Radon Risks and a coupon for a low-cost radon test kit.

Callers who have specific questions are referred to the Helpline to speak directly
with an information specialist.

- Trained information specialists answer specific questions on air quality related
issues.
- Provides relevant informational materials, including radon testing and mitigation,
radon resistant new construction, radon studies and articles, and publications on
indoor air quality.
- Provides referrals to regional, state, and local agencies and to others (as appropriate).

Provides on-phone assistance to schools, corporations, grassroots organizations,
and others on starting up air quality outreach programs.
Available Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST. Inquires can be mailed,
e-mailed
or faxed, or a phone message may be left at any time.
