Indoor Air Quality Outreach Activities

The Environmental Health Center (EHC) is committed to increasing public awareness and knowledge about the health hazards of indoor air pollution and how to prevent them. EHC provides materials and information on various indoor air quality issues through our Air Quality Helpline (800) 557-2366, and operates a national toll-free Radon Hotline (800) SOS-RADON for radon information. The Air Quality Program conducts the following outreach activities (funded by grants from the EPA).

Indoor Air Community Leader Kit

The Community Leader Kit helps grassroots organizations, health departments, and others in educating the general public about the hazards of indoor air pollutants. The kit contains a video, brochures, fact sheets, presentation slides, and other materials to support an outreach program. The Indoor Air Community Leader Kit for Women and Children targets minority communities. There also is an Indoor Air Community Leader Kit in Spanish, targeting the Latino community. The Indoor Air Community Leader Kit for Women and Children can be ordered by calling the National Safety Council's Air Quality Helpline, (800) 557-2366. The cost is $20.00.

Teacher's Guide to Indoor Air Pollutants

EHC has developed a guidebook and lesson plans on indoor air issues for schoolteachers of fourth through sixth grade students. The guide contains information on indoor air quality pollutants, in-class and homework activities, presentation slides and script, handout materials, and games. For more information, contact an environmental health specialist at (800) 557-2366 or send us an e-mail message.
