Materials Needed:
- Stop watch or clock with second hand
Activity:
Male crickets chirp by rubbing their wings, both to attract females and to ward off competing males.
- Use a stop watch or a clock with a second hand to count the number of times a cricket chirps in a sixty-second span.
- Subtract forty from the count, divide the result by four, and add fifty.
- You now have the temperature in Fahrenheit degrees.
