The National Safety Council
announces the release of the Sun Safety: A Growing Health Concern video.
Approximately one million new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer will be diagnosed
this year. Since skin cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer, education
about sun safety is a vital step toward reducing risk and improving public health.
The National Safety Council's Sun Safety: A Growing Health Concern video is also an excellent resource for parents, health professionals, medical and educational associations, school teachers, sports and recreation officials, youth organizations, outdoor workers, and anyone who is interested in learning and teaching others about sun safety. This 11-minute video provides information on the health effects from overexposure to the sun, types of skin cancers, the ultraviolet (UV) index, and preventative sun safety practices.
The video is available for a limited time at a low price of $30.00 plus shipping
and handling. Anyone interested in ordering Sun Safety: A Growing Health
Concern video can call the National Safety Council at 1-800-621-7619 and
charge the video to your credit card. Or you can print an order
form and mail it with your payment to Sun Video, National Safety Council,
1025 Connecticut Avenue, NW, #1200, Washington, DC 20036.
The Sun Safety: A Growing Health Concern video has been developed by
NSC under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's
SunWise School Program.
According to Keith Keddy of the Meteorological Service of Canada, "I thought the video was great! It's amazing how much you packed into 11 minutes. I can't think of anything you didn't touch on. I wish I had a Canadian product like this, but in any case I will find this invaluable."
Ms Elise Hazzard of the University of Tampa said, "The sun safety video is a wonderful production. Not only is it clear, comprehensive, and up-to-date, but it also speaks to all age groups. I'm sure the video will be a staple in all of my sun safety lectures."
Ms. Karey O'Neal of the Richard and David Kann Melanoma Foundation said, "The video is to the point and covers all the areas that we really feel are important. The video will be great to show to young/older children and adults."
