2026 Green Cross Safety Advocate Award Finalists

Leaders Driving Meaningful Change

We are pleased to introduce the finalists for the 2026 Green Cross for Safety Advocate award. The award recognizes a community partnership, program, individual or coalition that has made a significant impact on a safety issue by advocating for proven or promising practices to raise awareness or change policy to prevent further injuries and deaths.

Unilever Manufacturing North America Inc.

Building a Human-centered Safety Culture

Unilever launched a multi-year safety culture transformation that connected operational excellence, human performance and leadership engagement. Through the Unilever Manufacturing System, teams strengthened standard work, hazard management and continuous improvement practices across manufacturing sites. At the same time, the UL BeSafe 2.0 Program helped employees identify error traps, improve risk awareness and make safer decisions in everyday work.

Through the Together for Safety program, executives regularly engaged with frontline employees, creating open dialogue around risk, learning and prevention. In 2025, more than 40 executive leader visits were completed across manufacturing sites, reinforcing visible leadership commitment and shared accountability for safety.

Flagman Inc.

Road Safety Education Outreach Program

Through interactive K-12 education and public awareness, Flagman brings students together with police, fire, EMS, tow operators and highway workers to understand how everyday driving decisions affect everyone on our roads. Students learn Slow Down, Move Over principles, distracted driving prevention and how to become active passengers, empowered to recognize unsafe behaviors, speak up and influence safer choices within their families and communities.

In three years, Flagman has delivered more than 140 assemblies at 79 schools, reaching more than 37,000 students and faculty while engaging 459 first responders and roadway professionals across multiple states.

RepScrubs®

Surgical Attire Control with Vendor Credential Verification

Healthcare facilities depend on medical vendors to support critical procedures, yet managing those vendors once they enter sensitive clinical environments has been difficult to standardize. RepScrubs® transforms vendor access into a coordinated, measurable safety program. Its integrated platform connects credentialing verification, facility-specific check-in requirements, controlled surgical scrub dispensing, automated access restrictions, vendor education, reporting and ongoing program support. Hospital policies are built into the vendor workflow, creating clear expectations and consistent safeguards before a representative enters an operating room or procedural area.

Vendor compliance has increased from about 47 to 60 percent to as high as 99 percent, while reducing the need for staff to manually monitor and enforce requirements.
